I love coffee! In the cooler months, I drink coffee by the pot! With warmer temperatures arriving in June, it was time to switch back to my summer drink, chilled green tea. I discovered the health benefits of green tea last summer when I started my journey of healthy living. Quickly, I discovered the effectiveness of a diet consisting of all natural food, a little exercise, and a lot of green tea!
Having picked ten gallons of strawberries over the past month with my husband, Doug, I decided to take green tea up a notch to a whole different level.
I found this jewel of a tea kettle on Amazon last summer when I wanted something simple to make green tea that holds loose green tea...the good stuff: Gunpowder Green Tea!
It has been reported Gunpowder Green tea contains antioxidants called catechins that fight inflammation, boost metabolism, decrease diabetes, and increase immunity. It has also been reported that catechins may improve brain health ( In my 60's, I need all the help I can get in that department !) Drinking green tea unsweetened or sweetened with a little Stevia, a natural sugar substitute is a healthy replacement for sodas and sweet drinks. It is very refreshing served cold.
Strawberry Green Tea
Make a pot of Green Tea
Dissolve 1/4 cup of Stevia in warm green tea.
Add 1 cup of frozen strawberries to a blender and 1 cup of green tea to blender.
Blend well, pour in glass pitcher, and add the remaining green tea along with a cup of water and ice.
Stir well and serve over ice.
I like to keep a pitcher of Strawberry Green Tea in the refrigerator. While it is in the refrigerator, I let my Green Tea steep in the kettle and add more green tea to the pitcher during the day. I prefer my tea only mildly sweetened, but you may adjust the amount of Stevia to suit your tastebuds.
Pair the Strawberry Green Tea with a little exercise and some good natural food and you will soon have a spring in your step when you try on your summer fashions!
